Geo. Mark Jim G. Balido

Mark Jim G. Balido is a geologist from Nueva Vizcaya who earned his Bachelor of Science in Geology from University of the Philippines Diliman. He is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Environmental Science and Ecosystem Management at De La Salle University Manila.

He served at Philippine Mining Development Corporation (PMDC) as a Junior Geologist and Project Manager from 2013 to 2018, during which he monitored and assisted PMDC’s partner-operators in complying with mandatory exploration requirements and operational commitments; as Senior Geologist from 2018 to 2022, implementing reconnaissance surveys and due diligence activities for several unawarded PMDC projects, as well as assisting in the development of the Mabatas Relocation Site in Diwalwal; and as Supervising Manager for the Dinagat, Rogongon, CDO-Gold, and Diwalwal projects from 2022 to 2025, leading the permit applications, coordinated exploration activities, and managed various technical and operational requirements for PMDC-led projects.

Prior to joining PMDC, he worked as a Junior Exploration Geologist at Pan Pacific Power Philippines Corporation, where he conducted geological mapping and geochemical analyses of the Mt. Cagua-Baua geothermal prospect in Cagayan, as well as geothermal sites in Ilocos Sur and Abra, to evaluate their geothermal energy potential. He also served as a Research Assistant at Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), where he assisted in the tabulation and analysis of drilled core logs in the Pasig–Marikina area for regional subsidence assessment studies.

He is currently affiliated with several professional and civic organizations, including the Geological Society of the Philippines, the Association of Filipinos for the Advancement of Geosciences, and the Rotary Club of Diliman Silangan. In addition to his professional and academic engagements, he is also a business owner and manages a gasoline station in Cavinti, Laguna.
