The Philippine Mining Development Corporation (PMDC) attended the meeting of the Kalinga Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) on 19 June 2026 in Tabuk City, Kalinga, upon invitation to present its plans for the Batong Buhay Copper-Gold Project.
PMDC President and CEO Job Ambrosio informed the Board that PMDC recognizes and respects the rights of the Indigenous Peoples of Balatoc, with whom PMDC has an existing agreement. He emphasized that PMDC intends to pursue the responsible development of the project in partnership with the community and with due regard for their rights, welfare, and participation.
During the meeting, the PMRB encouraged PMDC to convene the tribal members to explain the proposed project, secure community support, and discuss concerns affecting small-scale miners in the area.
The meeting was chaired by MGB-CAR Regional Director Socrates G. Gaerlan, with Kalinga Governor James S. Edduba serving as Vice Chair. PMDC remains committed to open dialogue and to developing Batong Buhay in a manner that is responsible, inclusive, and beneficial to its host Indigenous Cultural Community and other stakeholders.
