Surigao City, July 7, 2026 – The Philippine Mining Development Corporation (PMDC) formally signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Contingent Liability and Rehabilitation Fund (CLRF) for its 2,700-hectare Dinagat Nickel Ore and Associated Minerals Mining Project in Cagdianao, Dinagat Islands.
The signing marks an important milestone in ensuring that the project is implemented in accordance with the highest standards of environmental protection, responsible mining, and regulatory compliance.
The CLRF is a financial assurance mechanism mandated under Philippine mining laws to guarantee the availability of funds for environmental impact prevention and mitigation, rehabilitation of mining-affected areas, and compensation for damages, when necessary.
PMDC President and CEO Job Adrian M. Ambrosio said the agreement reflects PMDC’s commitment to responsible resource development and close collaboration with government agencies, local stakeholders, and partner operators.
“Responsible mining begins with responsible stewardship. Through the CLRF, PMDC demonstrates its commitment to ensuring that environmental protection and rehabilitation remain integral to the development of our mining projects,” Ambrosio said.
The MOA was signed together with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regional Office XIII, DENR Caraga Regional Office, Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Caraga, the Provincial Government of Dinagat Islands, the Municipality of Cagdianao, the Rural Enterprise Assistance Center Foundation, Inc. (REACH), the Roman Catholic Diocese of Surigao, and PMDC’s project partners, Napnapan Mineral Resources, Inc. and EV Mining and Development Corporation.
The signing underscores the shared commitment of PMDC and its stakeholders to advance sustainable mineral development while safeguarding the environment and promoting the welfare of host communities.
